One Step Closer to Star Wars

Boeing has test fired a laser capable of bringing down an ICBM.

According to a Boeing spokesman:

``The power levels we have demonstrated are lethal against all classes of ballistic missile," and a field test will be conducted soon.

More than ever, America needs a missile defense. China, North Korea, Iran, etc. are all in the process of developing rockets capable of hitting the United States, and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. (China received a huge boost from Loral Aerospace, who taught them how to fix their satellite launches thanks to our old friend Bill Clinton.) Contrary to popular belief, we never had any means of stopping Soviet ICBM attacks; we relied on our ability to destroy the enemy with an attack of our own (Mutual Assured Destruction). Now, with a decentralization of the threat, we must develope defensive capabilities. MAD only worked because we knew exactly who was going to attack us; and it needs to be pointed out that we had some bad scares during the Cold War. In fact, we were very lucky we didn`t have an accidental nuclear exchange. MAD was not an optimal solution.

The ability to destroy an enemy`s attack weapons without having to annihilate them would save millions of lives and ensure a more peaceful and civil world. The Left hates this! They WANT a vulnerable America, because they believe America is the source of all the world`s ills. They despise the conventional power we have to enforce our will, and so they oppose our ability to defend against nuclear blackmail. If the peaceniks really sought peace, they would be gung-ho on missile defense. Their bitter opposition (note all of the negativity in this Post-Disgrace article) speaks volumes about their intentions and beliefs. They want to disarm us, not protect lives. A missile defense system would end any hope of forcing America to bow before an enemy.

Does anybody remember the recent blackmail by China? The Chinese warned they may go nuclear if we assist Taiwan in any invasion. Would their threat have any credibility if they knew we could shoot their missiles down, while we could strike them at will? Is fear of nuclear annihilation a better option?

I pray that we can develope these weapons, and deploy them before some enemy of Mankind can beat us to the punch.

Great Muddy Cavier

It looks like Missouri is becoming a major producer of caviar! They harvest sturgeon eggs out of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, and ship them to New York and other high snob-factor places.

Frankly, I wouldn`t eat ANYTHING which comes out of the Mississippi! (I`ve seen what is in that river!) But then, I wouldn`t touch fish eggs, either.

Now, a bottle of Missouri bubbly, on the other hand...

Dastardly Dishonest Defenders of Darwin

A man signing himself as Lev Landau wrote a letter to the American Spectator regarding the article Evolution`s Thermodynamic Failure by Granville Sewell in which he argues that Relativity disproves Dr. Sewell`s argument. I remember I thought this letter odd. Read it below:

Mr. Sewell is applying an elementary thermodynamic argument the full content of which he apparently does not understand with regard to the entropy of the universe. The expanded argument on a more sophisticated level is referred to as the "Fluctuation Hypothesis" and concerns the question of whether the universe is in a closed system.

The answer to the problem is in general relativity. The point at which we consider large regions of the system, the gravitational fields which they contain are important. In accord with general relativity these represent simply changes in the space time metric which is described by the metric tensor g (sub)ik.

The assumption that after a long enough interval of time a closed system must eventually reach a state of equilibrium depends obviously on the external conditions remaining constant. But the metric tensor g (sub)ik is, in general, a function of not only co-ordinates but time as well, so that the "external conditions" are by no means constant. The gravitational field cannot be counted as part of the closed system as in that case the conservation laws, which are the foundation of statistics, would become identities. As a result, in the general theory of relativity the universe as a whole must not be regarded as a closed system, but as one which is in a variable gravitational field. In this case the application of the law of increase of entropy does not imply the necessity of statistical equilibrium.

As the universe cannot be considered as a closed system, elementary thermodynamics does not apply in Mr. Sewell's arguments.
-- Lev Landau

There are several odd things about this. First, this man has absolutely loaded his letter with mathematical jargon which is unintelligible to the reader of TAS (and is probably unintelligible to Mr. Landau himself.) This is an old canard; Mr. Landau is putting on a show, a magic trick, in order to confuse what is being discussed. He throws in relativity, which has dubious relavency here, because he knows most people don`t understand it, and he may be able to impeach Dr. Sewell`s argument with some people because it sounds scientific. Why else continue to beat on that metric tensor g(sub)ik business?

I would like to point out that gravity generally robs the Universe of energy via black holes, which suck in matter and energy but fail to release them (except in the instances where black holes decay, in which case they simply return what they have taken). What does that mean? It means that gravitational point sources i.e. black holes increase entropic decay. (It has been speculated that there are ``white holes`` which connect via wormholes to black holes, and that these return what black holes have taken. This is conjecture, and STILL maintains equilibrium.) The point is, matter and energy are neither created nor destroyed in the Universe-merely moved about. Entropy states that, barring a Big Crunch (the opposite of the Big Bang, in which the Universe contracts back into a primordial egg), the Universe will reach a point of stasis which scientists refer to as heat death.

Of course, General Relativity has only the most indirect application to the developement of life. I found Landau`s arguments rather peculiar.

I was also bothered by the name-it struck me as familiar, but I couldn`t place it. Fortunately, an alert reader caught it:

JUDGE A THEORY BY ITS DEFENDERS
Re: Lev Landau's letter (under "Macrocreation Science Lesson") in Reader Mail's Treaty or Trick:

It should come as no surprise to your readers that your excellent publication draws big names and heavy hitters. Nevertheless, I was taken aback when I saw a letter to the editor by none other than Lev Landau, winner of the Nobel Prize in physics.

With his explanation of how the "metric tensor g (sub)ik" proves that the Universe is not constrained by the second law of thermodynamics, Prof. Landau demonstrated very clearly the state of discussion regarding evolution. It was truly fascinating stuff, since Lev Landau died on April 1, 1968.

Let's consider what we have here: a fraudulent letter written by someone obviously dishonest, disingenuous, and immature. In other words, an ideal representation of the theory of evolution rendered down to its barest essence.

If evolutionists are not fabricating transition-state fossils, they're inventing new idiotic gobblygook-filled sub-theories, such as the "theory of punctuated equilibrium" as noted by George Neumayr earlier this year. (You know the old saying, if you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with the "metric tensor g (sub)ik." Or try to, at least.)

Another tactic they employ is to engage in kangaroo-court, straw-men-laden, pseudo debates amongst themselves, as with, for example, National Geographic's periodic treatment of the topic. But evolutionists' favorite scientific method is to simply resort to bullying, usually by portraying their detractors as snaggle-toothed, illiterate, intemperate hillbillies. Such bullying is easily accomplished, since evolutionists constitute the overwhelming majority of those in the academia-Hollywood-MSM trifecta.

Yet in the process they do an even better job of revealing themselves to be morons. Exhibit A is the jackass who wrote that letter who, albeit unwittingly so, is evolution's ideal ambassador. Be on the look-out for other similarly cogent defenses of evolution from the noted scholars, I. P. Freely and Seymour Butts. The theory deserves no less.

If Darwinism is on such firm ground, why must its defenders stoop to such low tactics?

The Cowardly Lion

Here is one more example of the complete impotence of the United Nations and Koffi ``Klutch`` Annan. He reminds me of the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz; all bark and absolutely no bite.

Annan has been annanymous on this; he should have taken the lead in the U.N. Security Council long ago. Yet he dumped this on the United States (remember Jack Danforth?) as he, and the entire United Nations, once again demanded that we take the lead in a regional problem.

France and the member states of the U.N. were so fired up against our military involvement in Iraq, yet want our involvement in Africa. The French (and British) have had traditional relations with this region, and they are the obvious choice to lead an African coalition to deal with this. The failure of France to actually LEAD on an issue proves how worthless and weak they really are; they are great at backstabing US when we try to lead, but they offer no help on any issue on their own. They have troops in Chad which could easily be brought to bear, but they are too cowardly to act.

Will somebody please tell me just WHY we are still bothering with them and why anyone still takes the U.N. seriously?

Thermodynamics and Darwinism

The American Spectator Online has a tremendous article on Darwinism and Thermodynamics by a mathematics professor named Granville Sewelle. He makes the case (far more eloquently) for which I was so severely condemned by P.Z. Myers and his Mujihadeen in my AT piece The Case Against Darwin.

He states:

The discovery that life on Earth developed through evolutionary "steps," coupled with the observation that mutations and natural selection -- like other natural forces -- can cause (minor) change, is widely accepted in the scientific world as proof that natural selection -- alone among all natural forces -- can create order out of disorder, and even design human brains with human consciousness. Only the layman seems to see the problem with this logic. In a recent Mathematical Intelligencer article ("A Mathematician's View of Evolution," 22, number 4, 5-7, 2000), after outlining the specific reasons why it is not reasonable to attribute the major steps in the development of life to natural selection, I asserted that the idea that the four fundamental forces of physics alone could rearrange the fundamental particles of nature into spaceships, nuclear power plants, and computers, connected to laser printers, CRTs, keyboards and the Internet, appears to violate the second law of thermodynamics in a spectacular way.

In other words, despite energy being present as well as the materials necessary, my cat will not defecate an ipod. (Shoot, I`d be amazed if he could drop an A.M. radio.) This is more likely to happen than life being spontaneously generated. (I have yet to find so much as a non-functioning radio tube in my catbox.)

He continues:

Anyone who has made such an argument is familiar with the standard reply: the Earth is an open system, it receives energy from the sun, and order can increase in an open system, as long as it is "compensated" somehow by a comparable or greater decrease outside the system. S. Angrist and L. Hepler, for example, in Order and Chaos (Basic Books, 1967), write, "In a certain sense the development of civilization may appear contradictory to the second law.... Even though society can effect local reductions in entropy, the general and universal trend of entropy increase easily swamps the anomalous but important efforts of civilized man. Each localized, man-made or machine-made entropy decrease is accompanied by a greater increase in entropy of the surroundings, thereby maintaining the required increase in total entropy."

According to this reasoning, then, the second law does not prevent scrap metal from reorganizing itself into a computer in one room, as long as two computers in the next room are rusting into scrap metal -- and the door is open. In Appendix D of my new book, The Numerical Solution of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, second edition, (John Wiley & Sons, 2005) I take a closer look at the equation for entropy change, which applies not only to thermal entropy but also to the entropy associated with anything else that diffuses, and show that it does not simply say that order cannot increase in a closed system. It also says that in an open system, order cannot increase faster than it is imported through the boundary. According to this equation, the thermal order in an open system can decrease in two different ways -- it can be converted to disorder, or it can be exported through the boundary. It can increase in only one way: by importation through the boundary. Similarly, the increase in "carbon order" in an open system cannot be greater than the carbon order imported through the boundary, and the increase in "chromium order" cannot be greater than the chromium order imported through the boundary, and so on.

In these simple examples, I assumed nothing but heat conduction or diffusion was going on, but for more general situations, I offered the tautology that "if an increase in order is extremely improbable when a system is closed, it is still extremely improbable when the system is open, unless something is entering which makes it not extremely improbable." The fact that order is disappearing in the next room does not make it any easier for computers to appear in our room -- unless this order is disappearing into our room, and then only if it is a type of order that makes the appearance of computers not extremely improbable, for example, computers. Importing thermal order will make the temperature distribution less random, and importing carbon order will make the carbon distribution less random, but neither makes the formation of computers more probable.

The Eye of the Dragon

The Red Dragon has its eyes on the United States, and they`re watching us from right outside of Gitmo!

The time has come to accept that we never finished winning the Cold War, and many of our current problems stem from that fact. The Red Dragon is waiting its turn, as soon as radical Islam is finished with us!

Donde Este?

Back when I wrote my American Thinker piece on illegal immigration I received a lot of criticizm (generally from the more libertarian types at Free Republic)for my opinion that these aliens would not assimilate into American society. A number of Freepers argued for open boarders, claiming that the children of immigrants would dissolve into the American melting pot. (Of course, they ignored the historical examples I cited suggesting otherwise.)

For anybody who believes that, ponder this.

In fact, this report bodes ill for the transmission of our culture in general. The report states:

Literacy levels by language spoken before starting school also showed steep declines. While gains in prose and document literacy were made by speakers of “English and Spanish,” “English and other language,” and “other language,” the average scores of Spanish speakers showed steep drops. Average prose literacy scores for Spanish speakers dipped 17 points, even as scores for those who spoke English and Spanish before starting school rose seven points and scores for speakers of other languages increased by 10 points. Document literacy scores among Spanish speakers also fell by 17 points while gains were made by other subgroups.

We`re losing our culture, folks! Isn`t it about time we do something?

Unto Us a Child is Born

Lo, I will send you Elijah, the prophet, before the Day of the Lord comes, the great and terrible Day.

To turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers,

Lest I come and strike the land with doom.

(Malachi3:24-25)

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cy-re`-ni-us was governor of Syria.)

And all went to be taxed, everyone to his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilea, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David;)

To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the Angel said unto them Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you: ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
(Luke2:1-14)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we behelt his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(John1:1-2 and 14-15)

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: when as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Em-man`-u-el, which being interpreted is, God is with us.

Then Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife.

And knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
(Matthew1: 18-25)

My American Thinker piece The Mad King and the Crazy Left has been republished by an Afrikaaner discussion group. Click here and scroll down to the bottom, if you would like to see it.

The internet never ceases to amaze me!

How The Lebanese Grinches Are Stealing Australia`s Christmas

Ultima Thule has more on the trouble down in Australia with Middle-Easterners. It looks like things are getting out of hand.

Why Didn`t They Call On Jack?

Jack ``the Dripper`` Kervorkian was recently denied parole despite deteriorating health. The guy nobody wants to see when they are deathly ill has been incarcerated for quite some time, and he has been suffering a serious decline behind bars. Despite this, the parole board told him to pipe down and give himself an intravenous.

A thought occured to me (I have them occasionally); why did they pay someone to execute Tookie Williams when Jack ``the Dripper`` would probably have volunteered to do the job for free? Why waste taxpayer money? Undoubtedly, getting back to his chosen career would put new life in the old boy (while being decidedly unhealthy for his patient) since he would no longer be a useless ward of the State, but would perform a valuable service. He could be back in the saddle sticking arms and taking names, and we would save a bundle on black-hooded professionals. It`s a win-win situation!

Shoot, Dr. Kervorian would probably be so happy in his work that he wouldn`t waste the parole board`s time. Too bad the government doesn`t think of these things!

Unwanted Guests

Christopher Adamo elucidates the problem with Bush`s Guest Worker Program in the American Thinker Today.

The problem with the Guest Worker Program is that these are guests who are not going to leave. (Who hasn`t thrown a party and had one guy who hangs around long after it`s over? In this case, the guest wants to stay on permanently!) Furthermore, they will encourage new guests to come. We simply cannot coddle illegal immigrants. I understand that they are merely seeking a better life. I understand that they may be good people. They can be good people in Mexico, or wherever they come from, but they are criminals when they cross our borders without our permission, and they must be treated as such. Why are so many coming now? Because they literally have nothing to lose. We have to make it unprofitable for them, as well as for anyone who employs them. We have to have real consequences for this flagrant disregard for our laws.

A Guest Worker Program is an invitation.

New Friends

We have some new friends I would like to introduce.

Writing from Buffalo New York, we have Tom Joseph who brings a conservative Democratic view with his blog A Thinking Democrat. Tom is razor sharp and has an interesting, conservative perspective. (He`s also a determined man; Conservative Democrat has almost become an oxymoron.) Check out his blog!

Don`t miss The Southern Agrarian, either! SA has a keen grasp of the Left, and leads the charge into battle with saber slashing and both guns drawn. He has a couple of excellent posts up now, so hurry over and check him out!

I am constantly amazed at the quality of the blogs I`ve amassed on the links side. We have a very formidable group of thinkers and writers here, and I`m grateful to each and every one of you; I get a lot of visitors just because I have YOU linked up, and people use Birdblog as a jumping off spot. We`ve put together an intellectually powerful coalition. I recommend frequent visits to all of these sites; I learn more from my blogroll than I could possibly learn from the MSM or even Conservative news magazines. It really is a treasure-trove!

The Economic Broom of History

Eastern Europe is being swept clean of the last bits of socialist debris by the broom of a flat tax. Across the former Warsaw Pact, countries are adopting this with spectacular results. According to a Washington Post article;

Russia, for instance, enjoys the benefits of the 13 percent flat tax it adopted in 2001. The tax quickly yielded positive results. Revenue poured into government coffers as tax evasion and avoidance became much less profitable. Inflation-adjusted personal income tax revenue has more than doubled since the flat tax was implemented.

But Russia was simply learning from its neighbors. Estonia was the first, adopting a 26 percent flat rate in 1994. Latvia and Lithuania followed in the mid-1990s, with 25 percent and 33 percent rates, respectively. Serbia was next; in 2003 it went with a 14 percent rate. Last year, it was Slovakia (19 percent) and Ukraine (13 percent). This year it's been Romania (16 percent) and Georgia, which boasts the lowest rate -- 12 percent.

Poland, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria are all considering adopting a flat tax.

I posted this piece about the matter back in September, and now the mainstream media is starting to catch on to the economic miracles which have been following the inauguration of a flat tax.

That it has been so hard to understand that cutting tax rates and reducing paperwork and regulation would kickstart the economy is a testament to the economic ignorance and superstition of the Modern Era. Socialism has been the preferred economic model until the 1990`s worldwide, and liberals in this country have worshipped at the alter of John Maynerd Keynes since Roosevelt. The heavy, progressive income tax has been the engine for governmental growth, and the Democratic coalition was firmly rooted in that tax. They derived money to buy votes by taxing everyone-but especially those who produce in our society. Anyone who has read Atlas Shrugged knows the frustrations of those who carry the burdens of society, and who are vilified for their efforts.

A flat tax removes this onerous burden on the producers, making a more fair and equable system. Of Course the economy grows! Furthermore, by defunding the welfare state, those who have suckled on the prodigious mammary of the government find it more attractive to become one of the producers. It`s a win-win situation, except for the Democrats, the media, and those who make their way by keeping people poor and stupid (Jesse, where are you?)

The flat tax is sweeping up the liberal/socialist droppings in Eastern Europe. Here in the land of freedom and plenty, we are still playing with a tax system devised by Karl Marx. Isn`t it time we got on board, and adopted a flat tax?

Threats by Mexico

Vicente Fox is apoplectic about a proposal by the United States to wall off part of the border. He has called it shameful, and has vowed to fight with all means at his disposal.

Here is the kicker:

MEXICO CITY - The Mexican government, angered by a U.S. proposal to extend a wall along the border to keep out migrants, pledged Tuesday to block the plan and organize an international campaign against it. Facing a growing tide of anti-immigrant sentiment north of the border, the Mexican government has taken out ads urging Mexican workers to denounce rights violations in the United States. It also is hiring an American public relations firm to improve its image and counter growing U.S. concerns about immigration.

"Mexico is not going to bear, it is not going to permit, and it will not allow a stupid thing like this wall," Derbez said.``

So, MEXICO is not going to permit it? They are going to bring trumped up charges of human rights violations against us at the U.N.? Who the hell do they think they are?

Essentially, Fox is demanding the right to violate our national sovereignty. He wants to play hardball. Fine. Mexico owes us a massive amount of money which the United States taxpayer has graciously loaned them. If Fox wants to play this game, perhaps the time has come to call our loan. He is using American money to finance a smear campaign against us-why shouldn`t we demand payment?

It`s time to get tough with this clown. His policy of blatant violation of U.S. immigration law is not a friendly act, and should be dealt with harshly. He is, essentially, encouraging an invasion of America, and he demands the right to do so. He thinks he can strong arm us. It`s time we pushed back, and hard.

This is not a difficult issue; it is only difficult when one fails to address it. How does a nation enforce any of it`s laws? Illegal aliens should be arrested if caught and repatriated back to Mexico after an unpleasant period of detention. They should forfeit any money they have earned here. They should be incarcerated for long periods for second offenses. We should increase border patrols, and shoot if necessary. Any American who aids or abets illegal immigration should be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law. It needs to be made unprofitable.

Why do Mexicans come here illegally? Because they stand to profit from this country. Many Americans stand to profit from them. It`s a simple matter, really. We, in our kindness, have made it so easy to sneak over, so easy to live and work here while breaking the law, that the poor Mexican peasant has nothing to lose. It is too easy. President Bush finds this situation so difficult because he doesn`t want to be hard on the poor. That is a noble belief, but these particular poor are breaking our laws, as are their American patrons and the Mexican government. If we are a nation under the Rule of Law, then we cannot simply ignore this. There must be consequences to this open defiance of the Rule of Law. If this is unpleasant to the lawbreakers and Vicente Fox, that is unfortunate. They are, after all, the ones committing the crime.

New Horizons

We`re off to Pluto with the New Horizons space probe! Don`t hold your breath; it won`t arrive until 2015!

This is the last ``planet`` to be visited by a spaceprobe, and high time; we know very little about the little world at the end of the inner system. Pluto is the smallest planet (smaller than the Moon, 1410 mi in diameter compared to the Moon`s appr. 2100) in the solar system, but has the largest satellite (Charon) relative to it`s size (727mi-Charon is roughly half the size of Pluto, which is why it was so hard to determine the Plutonian diameter. Pluto looked large when Charon was to the side, while it looked small when Charon was in front of or behind. With older equipment it was impossible to determine that Pluto had a moon.)

For more on Pluto and Charon go here, here, here, and here.

A debate has raged about the status of Pluto. Many think Pluto is too small to be a planet, and want to reduce it`s status to Kuiper Belt Object (KBO). Pluto sits on the edge of the Kuiper Belt, which is a region similar to the asteroid belt, but with chunks of ice and frozen gas rather than stony or mineral bodies. The KBO`s are believed to be remnants from the original formation of the solar system, and we are finding more of them all the time. (Remember the discovery of Sedna?) Beyond the Kuiper Belt lies the Oort Cloud, where the comets hang out and hobnob with asundry interstellar matter.

The point is, Pluto has an eccentric (oblong) orbit, is too small for a planet, and is composed of ice and frozen gases. It fits the definition of a KBO, but tradition has accorded it planetary status, so a planet it remains!

At any rate, we don`t know very much about the King of the Underworld, and New Horizons will greatly expand our knowledge. I`ve always had a special fondness for poor, dark Pluto-shrouded in mystery and left out in the cold. Perhaps now our ignored kid brother can join the family of the solar system.

We will never have a second chance for a first look, and everywhere our probes go these days it is the first visit. These are truly monumental times!

Wither Our Rights?

Christopher Adamo, writing in Conservative Truth, has a short piece about the erosion of Constitutional Rights which dovetails with my June AT piece The First Right.

Kelo is just the latest in a long line of assaults on our freedoms by the Courts and the Left. It`s time the Nation awakened to that fact.

Nature Abhors a vacuum

"The effects of European secularism, you see, are not limited to the children of Muslim immigrants. A culture where barely half the people believe in God, and far fewer practice any religion at all, cannot compete with Islam's vitality. While Europeans have ceased believing in God, they and their children have not stopped needing Him: Their need for meaning and purpose has not gone away. They have just been convinced that these will not be found inside a Christian church. And they certainly will not find them in the secular welfare state. So for many that leaves only one alternative: radical Islam... It's a choice that makes sense only when you realize that we are by design meaning-seeking creatures."

Trouble Down Under

Our good friend Aussiegirl over at Ultima Thule has some excellent pieces on the trouble in Australia. Go here and here.

I was certain there was more to the story than was being reported by the media, and that turns out to be the case. The impression left by the MSM was that some drunken skinheads attacked poor, innocent Moslems for absolutely no reason.

No reason?

Four days after he set foot in Australia, the rape spree began. And during his sexual assault trial in a New South Wales courtroom, the Pakistani man began to berate one of his tearful 14-year-old victims because she had the temerity to shake her head at his testimony.

But she had every reason to express her disgust. After taking an oath on the Qur’an, the man – known only as MSK – told the court he had committed four attacks on girls as young as 13 because they had no right to say “no.” They were not covering their face or wearing a headscarf, and therefore, the rapist proclaimed: “I’m not doing anything wrong.”

Two wrongs do not make a right, but this kind of thing makes you want to take a bullwhip to this guy and his buddies. Yet we weren`t told any of this by the press, who continue to propogate the myth of Islamic/Western parity.

Writing from Perth, our friend Morris posts a piece on the rise of a Middle-Eastern criminal class in Australia. Multiculturalism is at the heart of these race/cultural troubles, and it looks like the Land Down Under is in for more problems.

How long will it be before everyone comes to realize that all cultures are not equal? Do we, or do we not, have the right to expect immigrants to obey our laws and accept our culture as a condition for coming? The Left, aided by their duplicitous allies in the Media, work feverishly against what us on this. It`s time they be held accountable.

Ah, then, but what`s the rape of a young girl or two compared with the importance of advancing the Liberal agenda?

The Long Arm of Ronnie Earle

The man who wants to bring down Tom Delay-Ronnie Earle-shows his true colors by issuing subpeonas to his critics. This is an example of prosecutorial abuse at it`s worst! Ronnie Earle would be better suited as a Hammer in the Syndicate than as a defender of justice.

Why doesn`t the Justice Department investigate HIM? There are certainly adequate grounds.

WMD Three Card Monte

The American Thinker has an article about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. An Israeli Lieutenant General argues that they were spirited to Syria.

Remember, Syria is home to the Baathist Party. Let me see, what was the name of Saddam`s party?

We should be able to identify where Saddam`s weapons were destroyed, if they aren`t in existence any more. We know they were there. We know they aren`t there now, and we can`t find where they were destroyed. It is not a matter of dumping them in the Tigris River; these weapons have to be dismantled in a laboratory. I throw the argument back in the laps of the ``where are they`` crowd-I challenge you to produce ONE site where these weapons were destroyed! Show me the evidence!

Gee, I wonder what could have happened to them!

The Night Before Fitzmas

THE NIGHT BEFORE FITZMAS

(with apologies to Clement Clark Moore):

Twas the night before Fitzmas, in the Senate and House
all the Democrats were stirring; Teddy Kennedy was soused

The indictments were hung around Howard Dean`s lair
in the hopes to get Rove in a defendent`s chair

and with Dick in his turban and Byrd in his sheet
Harry Reid fairly drooled over Dr. Frist`s seat.

Then from high on the Hill there arose such a blather
all the Democrats thought that it must be Dan Rather.

Away to the pressroom they flew, oh so fast
for Fitzgerald was coming with indictments at last!

With Bill`s hand on the breast of a fresh young intern
The Dem`s all awaited the Grand Jury`s return.

Then the cameras did roll and old Fitz spoke his piece
and the Democrat hopes soon began to decease

``In the matter of Plame``, Fitz was forced to confess,
``only one can I name, though I`ve sure done my best``.

Then what in the Democrats eyes should appear
but a look of despair and a river of tear

a wail from Pelosi and a sob from Dick Durbin
Uncle Ted so upset he downed a full gallon of bourbon.

Fitz looked like a peddler as he opened his brief
sad though he was to have brought liberals to grief

Scooter Libby he named, with a wink in his eye
``He was all I could get, all the Jury would buy.``

He spoke at great length as he went `bout his work
he bragged of his strength, and how Bush is a jerk

and moving his tie to the side of his neck
he tried hard to make good of his Grand Jury train wreck.

Chuck Schumer was glum, Biden beat on his chest
while old Ted drank a case of cold Milwaukee`s Best

Then, with a bow, Fitz fairly ran out the door
leaving shock and dismay and Ted drunk on the floor

And I heard them all say as Fitz fled from their sight
``Fitzmas sure was a bust-except for those on the Right!``

No RINOplasty

Just when you thought it was safe to get back into the political waters, President Bush throws in more chum to feed the political sharks which have been eating unwary American bathers. Our old friend Jay from Stop the ACLU tells all about it.

President Bush had finally gone on the offensive with his enemies, and, silly us, we thought the man was growing a political spine. Foolish to get our hopes up! He has caved completely to that camera-hogging lick spittle, John McCain, and, once again, allowed the Rino wing to hijack U.S. policy.

Doesn`t McCain understand? He has just sent a signal to the enemy that they have nothing to fear from capture! NOTHING! NOT ONE BLASTED THING! They now know that capture means better food, better living conditions, air conditioning, running water and no fear of interrogation. They really are getting a taxpayer-funded vacation now!

Remember, these are not military regulars, but partisans and terrorists. They have no claim on the Geneva Convention, nor on the rights of ordinary citizens. It had always been recognized that an army had the right to do whatever necessary with such scum; during the Mexican War, for example, General Winfield Scott ordered the immediate execution of any Mexican caught fighting out of uniform. This was fairly standard practice. Partisans and terrorists use the decency of their enemies against them. They don`t have any claim on mercy or decent treatment, since they offer none themselves.

Of course, we don`t want to become barbarians, but we need to have credibility. It was said that the enemy was terrified of going to Gitmo, largely because they didn`t know what we were doing there and they feared the worst. We were using some aggressive interrogation techniques, but these could hardly be considered torture: water boarding, running the a/c on high, sleep deprivation, scantily clad females (shoot, remember the 911 attackers PAID FOR that privelege in Florida shortly before they hijacked the aircraft), wearing dog collars, etc. Does this compare to cutting off limbs, rapes, electric genital shock (well, maybe John Kerry has done that), etc. being done to loved ones as well as the torture victim? Does MadCain really see parity?

The President has probably signed on to avoid having to veto the bill, and because he figures we have won in Iraq. We may have, but the War on Terror is far from over and we`re going to need those aggressive techniques in the future. We have to extract information out of very hard, determined men. Gentleness will not work with these people, and innocent lives are on the line. How many innocents will perish to stroke John McCain`s vanity?

The RINO`s have been a thorn in our side for too long; it`s time to perform RINOplasty, and reduce that unsightly bunch. The President had an opportunity to do just that with a veto-unfortunately he has again lost his nerve.

When will George Bush learn that turning the cheek in Washington guarantees two black eyes? He just doesn`t seem to understand that blood in the water draws sharks.

The Public`s Right to Know

Does anyone still believe that the Press doesn`t maintain a double standard?

This from the Evans-Novak report:

Barrett Report: Democrats have their own scandal brewing at the moment, but they are doing much better in covering it up than their Republican counterparts. At issue is the report by David Barrett, the last remaining U.S. independent counsel. Over ten years, Barrett has spent $21 million on the investigation of former Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros, who lied to FBI investigators about hush money paid to an ex-mistress.

The reason the report and the investigation have taken so long is that allies to Cisneros and the legal team of former President Bill Clinton at the powerhouse Washington law firm of Williams and Connolly have fought its progress in court at every step. Meanwhile, Clinton-sympathetic judges have sealed everything concerned with the case, including Barrett's report.

The report contains shocking allegations of high-level corruption in the Internal Revenue Service and Justice Department under Clinton, which Barrett found as Clinton aides monitored his investigation and sought to derail it in order to cover up the Cisneros matter. A regional IRS official had formulated a new rule enabling him to transfer an investigation of Cisneros to Washington to be buried by the Justice Department. Barrett's investigators found Lee Radek, head of Justice's public integrity division, determined to protect President Bill Clinton.

A recently passed appropriations bill, intended to permit release of this report, was altered by Democrats behind closed doors to ensure that its politically combustible elements never see the light of day. Democrats succeeded in inserting instructions into the bill's conference report that are very broad and will allow judges to continue suppressing the report. Three of the toughest Democrats in Congress -- Sen. Carl Levin, Sen. Byron Dorgan and Rep. Henry Waxman -- have been behind the effort to suppress, and they have done it effectively. The final language authorized the judges "to protect the rights of any individual named" in the report. With two out of three judges on a three-judge panel inclined to the Democrats, that means hardly anything out of Barrett's allegations will remain in the report made public. The bill was passed by Congress Nov. 18 and signed into law Nov. 30.

The only hope for the public seeing the report lies with Senate Finance Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), who may still try to force its release. Grassley would love to see a thorough investigation of the tax agency. Otherwise, Republican Congressional sources expect Section B of the report, dealing with the allegations of IRS-Justice corruption, to be eliminated in its entirety. The rest of the report will be so heavily redacted to obey the new Congressional language that it will be of scant interest to either ordinary citizen or legislator.

The Sorcerer`s Apprentice

Researchers at the Salk Institute have created mice with human brain cells for research purposes. They injected human stem-cells into the brains of the rodents so they could study brain functions and the neurological effects of disorders such as Parkinson`s Disease.

While I have no problem with animal experimentation, I have stated previously that I see great danger in mixing human and animal DNA. My fear is that micro-organisms endemic to one species will ``pick the genetic lock`` and move into the Human Race as new, virulent plagues. Every species has a plethora of parasites and symbiotes which they are adapted to living with, and the mixing of genetic material could allow these bugs to find new, unprotected hosts. We would have no natural defenses against them, and they could possible result in unprecedented pandemics.

Bioscience is the great two-edged sword. The promises of bioscience are great, but there is a real and profound danger. Throughout the 20th Century Man was worried about nuclear annihilation; now we need to worry about bio-chemical destruction, which could kill as many or even more people, and which could be done far more easily, or even accidentally. This is the true Pandora`s Box, the box which cannot be closed. We can`t control it, and we don`t know where it will lead.

We are like the Sorcerer`s Apprentice, playing with forces we don`t understand. Unfortunately, we don`t have the Sorcerer to call on when our experiments backfire on us.

What fools we mortals be!

Sys-stem-ic Distortion

Scientists are coming out in opposition to fetal stem cell research on practical and scientific grounds.

All of the successes in stem-cell research and therapy have been with adult/chord stem cells, not fetal tissue. Fetal tissue is too unstable. Yet we continue to hear about nothing but embryonic cells from the media. Why, it`s almost as if they have an AGENDA! Oh, I`m sure that can`t be the case!

The Fall of the Center

This was sent to me by Joe at The Southern Agrarian. It dovetails with my AT piece nicely:

Chapter 2
Bolsheviks at the Door

"Things fall apart; the centre can not hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,"
William Butler Yeats,
From "The Second Coming,"
The Poems of W. B. Yeats: A New Edition

I.
The Sniveling Class is the modern Democrat Party and its Grand Coalition of Appeasers, Educationalists, Environmentalists, Feminists, Great Technocrats, Great Stereopticon, Homosexuals, Nihilists, Racialists, and Unionists.

The primary purpose of this coalition is to institutionalize a ‘progressive,’ more enlightened American based on their vision of comfort - socialist poverty under the management of the Democrat Party. Their sworn enemy is conservatism or classical liberalism. Classical liberalism is the avowed enemy of ‘progressivism’ because it provides the heritage (roots) underlying American culture and values, or the ancient regime. The Grand Coalition’s strategic purpose is to always discredit conservatism as incompetent and intellectually bankrupt at every opportunity. Tactically, they seek to accomplish their strategic purpose by tying their super theory of incompetence and bankruptcy to super events. This is especially beneficial when the super event can be portrayed as a failure, as in the case of Katrina.

One of their tactics is to always blame conservatives and conservative government when conservatives are in charge of managing of government. Conservatives are always at fault because they do not believe in government to begin with. At the heart of all these battles are two central factions - the modern Democrat Party and the Great Stereopticon. The Grand Coalition seeks a correlation of forces tailored for each battle. This correlation is always predicated on the issue they are opposing or advocating for at the time. For example, there is a rote portrayal of any conservative (originalist) judicial appointee as an evil man (woman) by the correlation of Democrats, Nihilists, Feminists, Homosexuals, and the Great Stereopticon in opposition.

The attacks carried out by this class of people and the way in which they are conducted are instructive in understanding the forces composing this class of people, what their priorities are, their linkages, and their mind set.

II.

The Appeasers are the class of people who would rather negotiate with America’s enemies in the attempt to prevent trouble. They believe the nation’s foreign policy should only pursue the settlement of international quarrels by admitting and satisfying grievances through ‘rational’ negotiation and compromise, rather then resorting to armed conflict which would be expensive, bloody and possibly dangerous. To this faction, they are the ‘owners’ of peace and everyone else is a warmonger. They believe fighting terrorism is a matter for law enforcement and intelligence. The appeaser would give into the terrorists, and hope that they will stop killing innocents around the world. That was the approach Clinton took in the 1990s toward terrorists in the Middle East, Colombia, Israel and Northern Ireland. Appeasers like to present themselves and their policy as rational, conciliatory, thoughtful, and nuanced. As Neville Chamberlain demonstrated in the 1930’s, negotiating with terrorists tends not to be any of those things – it simply encourages more terror and evil.

The Educationalists portray themselves as the only ones capable of managing the business of the academy from the kindergarten level up through the university. Like all other factions of the Sniveling Class, they believe themselves the owners of education. The educationalists’ charge is to lead a nihilistic rebellion against distinction and hierarchy. They repudiate knowledge and objective truth for political correctness, radical egalitarianism and indoctrination. Yet, their marketing schemes from tax increases to bond issues to direct marketing to alumni is that they are doing everything in the best interest of the children. Based on this marketing scheme, they seek greater largesse from the taxpayers, rising tuition fees, larger endowments, and greater support from their alumni and still they never have enough money. Their marketing scheme is that of the monopolist and the truth is there is no more left wing institution in America today and no more dangerous.

The Environmentalists believe they own the issue of the environment. As such, they seek to manage the enterprise of environmentalism by inventing all-manner of alarmist scenarios based on pseudo science resulting in catastrophic outcomes. Based on their scenarios they portray capitalism and its advocates as the principal enemies of the environment and the reason why these catastrophes will come about. They want people to believe capitalism, limited government, and the American People are raping the environment and we will reap the whirlwind of our ignorance in the future. Environmentalists derive their power, money and media appearances by trafficking in alarmism, rather than sound science.

The Feminists are a class of activists who think they speak for all women about all issues concerning women. They seek to manage the enterprise of feminism toward the idea that America oppresses women through economic, social, and political policy and through the institution of marriage. The Feminists ideology shows ardent support for abortion, gender socialism, homosexuality, appeasement, nihilism, "equal marriage," and economic socialism. They derive their power, money and media appearances by trafficking in guilt and condemnation by implying that gender discrimination is the reason for all consequences.

The Great Technocracy is that class of bureaucrats and politicians charged with the management of government at all levels. It is the technocrats who suggest, legislate, regulate, manage, and spend the tax payers money and wield the power granted them through representative government. They take ownership of State Power and apply it to society based on "public choice and the social good." The Great Technocracy is only as benevolent as the politicians and judges charged with governing it. Large numbers of this class are unionized, members of the Democrat Party, and they seek to protect their positions by pursing impulses of self interest that make their positions and powers increasingly important.

The Great Stereopticon is the mainstream media in this nation and around the world. No longer journalists, the MSM has taken up the bloody banner of advocate for bigger government, cultural and societal debasement and appeasement. There is no greater demonstration of an arrogance of power than in the MSM, which has become little more than the oppositional research arm of the political left in this nation seeking to vilify conservatives at every opportunity. But the Great Stereopticon is not limited to the MSM. It includes media in all of its incarnations, which includes the compilation, analysis and dissemination of information and entertainment. Central to the Great Stereopticon are the motion picture, the radio and the television to augment their propaganda and indoctrination capabilities. They are fully involved and enlisted in the fierce struggle over who will control the means of propagation. They have become little more than public relation practitioners for the American Left seeking the persuasion of the American people to their point-of-view. Based on their rhetoric, their pictures, and their preferences, we know this to be true.

Again we have a class of people, The Homosexuals, who think they alone own the issue of homosexuality and seek to manage the Homosexual enterprise based on creating an image of oppression and discrimination based on sexual orientation. They are so brazen as to make the morally equivalent comparison between their "plight" to the Civil Rights struggle: e.g., they equate the Rainbow Warriors to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference? The Homosexuals ideology is much like the Feminists and the Nihilists. They derive their power, money and media appearances by trafficking in discrimination based on sexual orientation and advocacy of same-sex marriage, now referenced as "equal marriage."

The Nihilists seek to debase or overthrow the existing social values and cultural mores underpinning American society. Their ideology postulates traditional values and beliefs are unfounded and their existence is senseless and useless. They do not believe in objective truth particularly when it comes to moral truths (values). Their doctrine postulates that the social conditions in America were and are so oppressive and corrupt that destruction of the existing social order is desirable. The Nihilists seek total control of the State so they can employ it as their instrument for change or progress (ive). The Nihilists seeks to employ the power of the State as an instrument of radical societal and cultural change. They reject individualism, capitalism, the church, and the family as the basis for society.

The Racialists are that class of activists who think they alone own the issue of race and they seek to manage the enterprise of a Racist America in given situations to provoke accusations of racism. They operate from an ideology to fantasize, manufacture and propagandize the mantra that America is a racist nation. They want people to believe the nation is consumed with keeping Black Americans oppressed and don’t want black people to get ahead. Racialists derive their power, money and media appearances by trafficking in guilt and condemnation by implying that racial discrimination is the reason for all consequences.

The Unionists have abandoned the economic interest of their rank and file membership for politics. Originally, unions were organized for the mutual benefit of their membership but instead they have deteriorated into the destroyer of jobs and exploiter of union dues for the expressed purpose of pursuing left wing activism. While their membership has plunged, their influence in the Democrat Party has remained an important part of that coalition. Despite the fact rank and file union members have voted in larger and larger numbers for conservatives, The Unionists – the leadership - have become increasingly radical in their politics.

III.

It is this coalition making up the Democrat Party. Any honest analysis of this Grand Coalition must conclude they are extremists. Consider the voices of the modern Democrat Party: Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Al Sharpton, Hillary Clinton, Cindy Sheehan, Jesse Jackson, the ACLU, Moveon.org, the National Education Association, Planned Parenthood, The National Organization of Women, The Center for American Progress, The New York Times, Washington Post, ABCCBSNBCCNN News, Chris Matthews, Barbara Streisand, Sean Penn and worse.
Now consider the platform of the Grand Coalition of Appeasers, Environmentalists, Educationalists, Feminists, Great Technocracy, Great Stereopticon, Homosexuals, Nihilists, Racialists, and Unionists.

Democrats should put a forth a truthful preamble outlining their basic philosophy.
The modern Democrat Party is a left wing party that believes in protecting and maintaining the socialist poverty they designed, implemented and use to purchase votes.

The modern Democrat Party views no longer conform to Jacksonian or Jeffersonian principles but to the European ideals of Marxian and Keynesian political economy.
The modern Democrat Party want America to become more like Europe, with its socialism, nihilism and appeasement.

The modern Democrat Party will employ the power of the state to criminalize conservatism and classical liberalism.

The modern Democrat Party seeks the total annihilation of hierarchy and distinction through the forces of radical individualism and radical egalitarianism.

The modern Democrat Party champions ‘progressive principles,’ which breeds resentment and works to create envy between individuals and classes of people.

The modern Democrat Party is the ultimate ‘levelers’ placing themselves and the secularized state, between individuals and classes, and between families, churches, markets, governments and the people. These levelers are the foes of classical liberalism (conservatism) and the destroyers of its beliefs and values.

The modern Democrat Party are practitioners of nihilism seeking to bring about a reign of pure democracy that is not seen as an end, but a means to push their nihilistic (radical) cultural and societal changes on the nation.

The modern Democrat Party rejects God and providence and embraces the assumptions of the State and mankind as the guiding light of the future.

The modern Democrat Party’s Contract with America would read as follows:
SOCIALIST POVERTY: Expand the authority of the State to development and take over the health care, public education, welfare, and retirement systems of the United States extending its reaches to cover as many Americans as possible. The Democrats will seek to redistribute the wealth of this nation through these systems.
TAX POLICY: Impose across the board tax rate increases to raise more revenues to fund public and social investment in the nation. Progressives will pass a ‘catastrophe surtax’ on all Americans, so the nation will share in the sacrifice. Democrats will make tax rates more ‘progressive’ on the wealthy and the rich to adequately fund public and social investment projects (redistribution) needed to alleviate the nation’s social problems.
FOREIGN POLICY: Withdraw from Iraq and the War on Terror and extend due process to al Qaeda terrorists. Democrats will seek a restoration of the ‘pre-9/11 equilibrium’ in international affairs with the rest of the world and dispense with the old ideal of American exceptionalism. They believe America is a force for evil in the world and the U.S. deserves to be run out of nations because our current foreign policy is based on the imperialistic forces of exploitation of resources, conquest of lands, and nefarious geopolitical purposes. The U.S. deserves to lose wars and have our bravest killed be they military or civilian because we are the cause of the problems. The U.S. engages in state sanctioned terrorism around the world. The Democrats will turn the defense of the nation over to the United Nations.
JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS: Will appoint judges to make laws from the bench, institutionalize their Faustian vision of comfort as law, and then insulate this ‘institutionalization of the law’ from any public debate.
SOCIAL POLICY: Endorse reverse discrimination, give driver’s license and in-state college tuition to illegal immigrants, extending social welfare to illegal immigrants, and they will continue to NOT defend our borders. Democrats stand in solidarity with their illegal immigrant brothers and sisters.
HOMOSEXUAL RIGHTS: Champion same-sex or equal marriage and ‘special rights’ for homosexuals while seeking to make it a hate crime to judge homosexual behavior based on the Bible or views espoused from the pulpit.
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS: Advocate for abortion on demand, partial birth abortion, embryonic stem-cell research and oppose any attempt at parental notification or teaching abstinence.
CHURCH AND STATE: Drive God from the public square and keep Him out of the schools. Religious expression will be confined to houses of worship or homes only. Democrats will change the Pledge of Allegiance to take the words ‘under God’ out or deny America’s children from repeating it as now written. And of course, Democrats will continue to ‘defend’ the right of flag burning.
ENVIRONMENTALISM: Regulate industry based on the science of environmentalism. Democrats will tax companies for making excessive profits, oppose exploration and development of more oil reserves, and stop the construction of more oil refineries and nuclear power plants. Democrats will stymie drilling for oil, the exploitation of oil shell in the west, oppose the construction of new Nuclear Power Plants, fight construction of hydro-electrical plants, and contravene any efforts to build oil refineries.
FREE SPEECH: Reassess the old notions embodied in the Bill of Rights. Free speech and religious freedom will be denied to groups deemed to be ‘hate groups.’
GUN CONTROL: All guns will be registered with the government and all handguns and other guns deemed "dangerous’ by the State will be confiscated. All aspects of the Bill of Rights will be reconsidered based on the assumptions of the State and their application of the Patriot Act.

IV.

At their core, each faction of the coalition seeks socialistic solutions to their "issues," that is, increasing the size and scope of the state over the lives of the American People in support of their claims of victim hood or monopoly power. They are for increasing taxes, regulating industry and expanding the redistributionalist powers of the entitlement-state. They believe in the Great Technocracy (bureaucracy) and the own ‘superior intellect’ of their coalition members rather than the individual.

Despite the reality that we sit on enough oil resources to essentially make ourselves energy independent, we can not exploit these resources because environmentalists and regulators oppose it. They see new exploration and drilling for oil as creating a "greater disaster" according to Hillary Clinton. They are gleeful about higher gasoline prices seeing this development as a way to further their regulatory grip and try and severe the nation’s fossil fuel dependency. In their glee, Democrats are comfortable with the idea that the Great Technocracy should choose winners and losers in life.

The modern Democrat Party seeks to undermine the American family in all of its policy prescriptions. They seek to redefine marriage with their support and endorsement of the homosexual agenda principally same-sex marriage or "equal marriage." How extreme are these people? With respect to the courts, Catherine Crier provides us with a perfect example, "They (the extreme right) seethe over this unelected, independent third branch of government, the last bulwark between the American people and their attempted coup." Crier and her fellow travelers see the American People and their attempt to restore classical liberalism – conservatism - as the principals for directing government as a negative, a coup?

The Grand Coalition has separated religion from education, virtue from character, and morality from judgement. The Educationalists in alliance with the Nihilists have institutionalized and regimented instruction based on the assumptions of the state in order to accomplish its goal of a systematic indoctrination rather than an education.

They seek to propagandize our child with anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, pseudo-science and drown them in the ‘diversity ideology.’ Administrations from the kindergarten level upward, with nudging by the Great Technocracy and Nihilists, demand obedience and devotion to radical egalitarianism. The educational establishment is corrupt with power and arrogance at all levels seeking the destruction of distinction and hierarchy. They are given a monopoly at the elementary, intermediate and secondary levels and then free reign at the university level. They are abhorred when their management of a Soviet-style education system built on political correction, corruption, and ideological favoritism/certification is questioned.

A review of their websites show they are basically on the same page on these and other, even more extreme, issues. They link to each other and support each other in areas where they can. These extremists have become the mainstream of the Democrat Party; their take over of the modern Democrat Party has moved it from a left-of-center party to an extreme left party. Since 2000 and the passage of so-called campaign finance reform, we have witnessed the complete take over of the Democrat Party by the ‘New Left,’ the Port Huron Bolsheviks of the sixties.

IV.

If the sampling of their platform is not revealing enough consider the characteristics of this class to better understand their complete disconnect with the American people. Each member of the Grand Coalition arrogantly claims ownership of the respective issue and are the instant expert on any issue. There can be no opposition in their minds because they are the only purveyors of truth about their respective issue. In monopolistic fashion, they yell louder, are constantly on a fundraising binge, and design their marketing schemes around dishonest propaganda to either convince the masses to buy into their product (their issue) or vilify their enemies.

The ideology of the Grand Coalition involves some form of increased estatism regulating commerce, industry, family, individual and their respective relationships within society.
The appeaser seeks to turn the State Department over to the United Nations while converting the military into a social welfare system for the world.
The Environmentalist seeks to completely destroy the industrial base of the United States through regulation and litigation.
The Educationalist wants to indoctrinate our children instead of educating them.
The Feminist seeks to destroy traditional marriage and the family and replace them with ‘equal marriage’ and ‘open families.’
The Great Technocracy is used as the enforcement arm of the Grand Coalition employing democracy not as an end but as a means for imposing radical individualism and radical egalitarianism on the masses.
The Great Stereopticon is the propaganda arm of the Grand Coalition used to soften the masses, confuse their ability to differentiate between ideologies, and convince them that the ways of the coalition, the assumptions of the state, are the wave of the future.
The Homosexual seeks to bring about a new state sanctioned repression based on ‘hate speech’ targeting Christians, Jews, Muslims or anyone else who speaks out against their agenda.
The Nihilist seeks the complete annihilation of God from American and the imposition of paganism on all – a state sanctioned religion.
The Racialist seeks to extort additional finances, create new rights, and expand political powers in order to maintain their welfare plantations rather than liberate their chattels from institutionalized oppression.
The Unionist ignores the rank-in-file membership in pursuit of political power by supporting the Grand Coalition.
No matter the group, they seek to use the power of the state through bureaucratic regulation, legislation, litigation, or executive/judicial fiat to bring about socialist poverty as the solution to every problem facing the nation. This despite the reality a great many of the problems afflicting society were or are the result of the State, e.g., institutionalized racism and oppression was devised and enforced by the State under Democrat Party rule. Today, the modern Democrat Party seeks to implement socialism is a drive to destroy distinction, hierarchy and virtue and establish egotism, materialism and empiricism as the basis for society. The Grand Coalition is determined to brutally hammer society into a unified mass.

They consider their prescriptions of socialist poverty the only legitimate policies that matter and the only ones that should be considered. They do not want an honest and open dialectic concerning the issues. They stifle debate by yelling louder than the opponent and by castigating them as warmongers, polluters, close-minded, sexists, anti-government zealots, biased right-wingers, homophobics, racists and the enemy of the working man or woman. With the help of the Great Stereopticon, conservatives (Classicists) and conservatism (policies) are propagandized as being either criminal or incompetent or intellectually bankrupt.

Conservatives are always casts in a negative light, only seeking an agenda to benefit some individual, company, corporation or some other ‘for-profit’ scheme.

Above all else, they prefer their own interests to the detriment of the truth. They do not care about those they serve or the greater good; it is the issue and the benefits they derive from it. They’re only concerned about the issue and what it will bring them in terms of power. The leaders of this Grand Coalition covet power above all else. Advocacy empowers them with finances, publicity, celebrity, and increased power. These so-called leaders have a vested interest in ensuring there is never a solution to their respective problem. It does not matter whether there is improvement or not, they revel in victimhood and will never be satisfied with the state of their issue, unless they are given complete control, power, and access to the public treasure. There is never enough capitulation for the appeaser; money for the Educationalists; regulations for environmentalists; freedoms for feminists; power for the bureaucrat and politician; propaganda for the Great Stereopticon, perversion for the homosexual, debauchery for the Nihilists, and dues for the Unionists.

They are intellectually dishonest. They claim to be mainstream and representing the great political center of American politics. They want the American People to believe they are avoiding the extremes in pursuit of a middle course between contrarian views. This is puro propaganda.

They hold a deep hatred for their opponents – conservatives or classical liberalism. They do not tolerate different opinions or ways of life. They are openly hostile to opposing views and demonstrate a contemptuous indifference toward conservatives and classicists. They seek a reformation of their opponents to make them over in their own image. The author recalls in graduate school how professors berated the views of any economist they disagreed with. As a student of Ludwig Von Mises and the Austrians, I often carried Mises’ book, Human Actions, with me to read and study. Walking into my Advanced Macroeconomics class, my professor, peering over his glasses and looking at the book, ask, "You don’t really believe that stuff do you?" I answered in the affirmative. My professor, a liberal and dedicated Keynesian, retorted, "Well, we will convert you from such thinking."

But as we saw from their definitions and ideologies:
They are extremists seeking to institutionalize a socialist poverty as the central economic and social policies of the nation;
They believe the rights of man emanate not from God, but from the state and man’s enlightenment;
They covet absolute power over the Great Technocracy (the State) and its direction;
Pure democracy is employed as a means to bring about a radicalized fragmentation of the culture and society;
Political correctness is employed as a means to disavow and cover up truth while forcing dishonesty on society through contrived terms (newspeak) used to describe issues, people and things in America;
They want to impeach the credibility of conservatives and conservatism by portraying their actions as criminal, incompetent and intellectually bankrupt;
They seek to turn the clock back institutionalizing paganism as the new State Religion and nihilism as their guide in determining cultural and social issues; and
Incrementally, they are working to destroy the idea of American exceptionalism, capitalism, private property, the expansion of liberty to all people, representative government, the Church, the family, and the culture and society.

Immigration and Congressional Apportionment

Steve Kamaroto, from the Center for Immigration Studies, argues that President Bush`s Guest-Worker Program will detrimentally affect Congressional apportionments. This is the first time I`ve heard this mentioned!

The President needs to understand the destructive nature of illegal immigration. His policies are badly damaging the Republic.

Governmentium

Seven Lbs. Dave sends this tongue-in-cheek example of Jimmy Carter style science:

*Governmentium*

Los Alamos has recently announced the discovery of the heaviest chemical
element yet known to science. The new element tentatively has been
named... "Governmentium."

Governmentium has 1 neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons,
and 11 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These
312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are
surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since governmentium has zero electrons, it is inert. However, it can be
detected as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.
A minute amount of governmentium causes one reaction in excess of 4 days
to respond when it would normally take less than a second.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 3 years; it does not decay, but
instead undergoes a restructuring in which a portion of the assistant
neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, governmentium's
mass will actually increase over time, since each shuffle, so to speak,
will cause some morons to mix with neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to
speculate that governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain
quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as
"Critical Morass."

Response to The Mad King

Here are some thoughtful e-mails I received over my piece ``The Mad King and the Crazy Left``:

I just read your excellent summation over at the American Thinker (referred by larwyn). I have been writing on my blog about many of the same issues, but from my own Psychoanalytic/Psychiatric pov. The idea that the liberal mindset derives from the need to replace God by man and its derivative, that reality is constructed, is right on target. You might find Howard Schwartz's book, The Revenge of the Primitive of interest on the roots of political correctness. I recently posted Part IV of my series on Narcissism, Disintegration, Suicidality & the Fall of the West, The Death of the Father. My series is describing how the culture (and cult) of narcissism, the "I" being all that counts, is undermining our ability to fight and win the war on Islamic fascism. This part, in particular, was directed toward how man has murdered God and, of necessity, replaced him with himself. Here's a bit of it:

Pure rationality had come to demand that God be treated as if he didn't exist (an effort that is continuing today via the legal system, a topic for a later post) and many were and are all to happy to comply. By denying the existence of a transcendent God, the rationalists were paving the way for man to take his place. I have described elsewhere ( W(h)ither Religion, Political Deification) the disastrous consequences of the death of God for a society as well as the existence of an unconscious need for a God to exist; if we have murdered God, as some insist, then something merely human will have to be found to take its place. Whether we are talking about one's faith in overt Atheism, Communism, Secular Humanism, Multiculturalism, or some other -ism, we are describing the use of human structures to replace a transcendent God with a profane object of worship. We are now halfway to disaster.
....
By destroying God as a civilizing influence, the rationalists put themselves into the position of needing a replacement. Fascism was tried and found wanting; communism was tried and found wanting (and untold millions had to die in the attempts); today a more reactionary form of Utopian fantasy ideology is in play in Islamic fascism, which will certainly be found wanting as well, though there is no way to know how many will have to die first.

This may all seem far removed from discourse on narcissism but the connection is a powerful one. Religion has been one of the most profound and useful ways to civilize those who were unfortunate enough to grow up without the requisite parental guidance and available sources of identification. Religion helps young men, especially, to channel their passions, and behave in socially acceptable ways. The Conscience, an important part of the Superego, has two parts; it offers proscriptions (Thou shall nots) and prescriptions (Thou shalls). As any parent knows, "Thou shall not" works best when there is a clear punishment available to enforce compliance. If God can no longer be invoked, the only reason to obey the law and inhibit one's own drives is fear of human authority, which at the best of times is highly corruptible and inconsistent, two attributes not ordinarily attributed to God.
If civilization depends on young men, especially, taming their instinctual drives and inhibiting the free expression of such drives and their more harmful derivatives, then we can see that our civilization has been consistently stripping away vital layers of protection, while at the same time encouraging our young people to act out their impulses; this is not a stable structure.

The rest of the post is here.

Part of the glory of the blogosphere is the way we can find other who advance our ideas and thinking. Your article was thought provoking and I hope my posts would do the same for you.

Hi Tim,

I've read a number of your articles and in my opinion, this is your best work. Not many people connect Darwin, Marx and Nietzsche, then go on to connect Spencer and Sanger. I've always thought the links between Soviet Communism, Eugenics, Nazism, Abortion, Chinese Communism and Democratic Socialism were obvious. It amazes me how well the liberal elite manage to cover these links, but then their objective has always been to teach what to think instead of how to think.

Over a decade ago, I visited the National Women's Museum in Seneca Falls, NY with an Australian College Professor who was a Doctor of Philosophy (don't ask I how I managed that trick). We were both startled to find that Sanger's past history with the Eugenics and Nazi movements was entirely missing. You'd think that the National Parks Administration would have insisted on historical accuracy.

Before Darwin, there was the Reverend Thomas Malthus who wrote the "Essay on the Principle of Population." Darwin accepted the reasoning of the "Malthusian Doctrine" and made it part of his reasoning for natural selection. The truth is that the confrontation between those who believe in the material nature of reality and those who believe in god(s) and religion dates back at least as far as the Greek Philosophers Epicurus and Aristotle (who rejected the materialistic nature of reality).

Newsweek published an article in the early 1990's about a startling scientific breakthrough. Taking advantage of the latest in medical technology, researchers had discovered that men and women physiologically used their brains differently during the acts of thinking and problem solving. Considering Socrates had reached the same conclusion by just asking questions centuries before the birth of Christ, it didn't seem to be a startling breakthrough to me. Unfortunately, at that time, everyone knew that men were superior to women, so Aristotle concluded that the fact that women thought differently than men proved men were more intelligent. In a way, this is similar to Darwin discovering some of the Laws of Nature and concluding that this disproved any intervention by Nature's God.

I became a believer in Intelligent Design when neither Al Gore nor John Kerry evolved to become President of the United States. The truth is that Darwinism, as a theory, died a number of years ago and the liberal elite refuse to bury the stinking corpse because of the damage it will do to all their pet agendas. Their defense of Darwinism is comical when you consider that Harvard has committed $1,000,000 annually to, as David R. Liu, Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, explains "reduce this to a very simple seriesof logical events that could have taken place with no divine intervention." But didn't Darwin's theory already do that?

The liberal elite refuses to debate issues such as Abortion and Intelligent Design because actual reality and truth are easier to understand and recognize than their convoluted versions.

Don't get too upset. In July, before your "The case against Darwin", I emailed Thomas Lifson a heads-up on an article in the New York Times by Cardinal Schonborn of Vienna explaining that the Catholic Church did not accept Darwin's theory. This had been a creation of the media and others for a good number of years. Although, it was interesting that the Church had finally clarified its position, the fact that the article had been written by a Cardinal from Austria led me to believe that the Vatican and possibly even the Pope wanted to open a debate on Darwinism.

Frankly, if it had not been for your article, I would have written one for American Thinker and, to use Lifson's term, it would have been harsh. Fortunately, since only Thomas actually knows who I am, his neighbors from Berkley would have been at his door with pitchforks and torches.

As I said in my last email to you, Darwinism is DEAD.

It is a scientific fact that the fossils found in the Canadian Burgess Shale are a record of when most modern phyla appeared during the start of the Cambrian period. This is proof of an explosion in complex life without evidence of a gradual rise of more complex life leading up to the Cambrian period. This is not a case of a missing link, but a case of a missing evolution of species.

Darwin admitted that if a blind incremental process could not explain a natural phenomenon, his theory would be proven false. The flagellar motor found in e-coli and other bacterium is a natural phenomenon that can not be explained as a blind incremental process. The motor and its parts could not have been a result of the gradual rise of complex life to more complex life.

Nobel prize winning biochemist Francis Crick who took part in the discovery of the helical structure of DNA recognizes that the first cells cannot be explained by a design-free evolution. Crick's non-evolutionary solution to this problem is the belief that intelligent aliens seeded life on earth. Oxford Zoologist, Richard Dawkins' solution to this problem is an irrational belief in the power of chance to the point that the probability is so infinitesimally small that it is mathematically and theoretically unlikely to have occurred by random chance.

The real Big Bang may be the sound of scientific agnostics falling off their mountain of delusions and landing on the path between Intelligent Design and Prime Mover.

Supposedly, Einstein was once asked how he had developed his theories. His response, with a wink, was that he tried to look into the mind of God. The people there, at the time, thought he was just kidding. What if he wasn't? His most controversial statement is that there must be a set of basic principles which govern both the vastness of the universe and its smallest element. Philosophically, a God would be a Perfect Being and a Perfect Being could not be inconsistent. More than one set of basic principles would be inconsistent.

A little food for thought,

Keep up the good work!

Oh, I dunno, I'd nitpick this on many issues, for one thing Britain was
already a strong constitutional monarchy and the fault was at least half
the Parliment's.
Is the left really that much crazier today than thirty or sixty or two
hundred years ago? Well, I agree, maybe a little, but they were pretty
crazy then, too.
Did the left maintain its power thru information and journalism? I know
Rush goes on about that, and he makes many valid points, but the left
equated itself with the Enlightment view of Progress. I think just
perhaps those two ideas are now breaking loose - it was the Republicans
who were pro-technology even in 1850!
Yada yada.

For those interested in the liberal mindset:

Steve Kangas did an excellent job explaining liberalism. As a
libertarian (ie Consitutional constructionalist), I would have enjoyed
debating him. Unfortunetly, he commited suicide in Las Vegas in 1999.

What I saw was the Left's love of self as gods. They give themselves
divine right because they are so much smarter than us unwashed, ignorant
believers.Yet, the only way to explain the nature of man is through the
fall.We are all sinners,we cannot come to be gods, and to the Holy
Creator we are as filthy rags.We think with those rags too,The Liberals
hate the idea of an external,eternal,God-and they want to
be their own god....

The best point he makes is that liberals believe in the fundamental
goodness of all people. That's what enables lefties to believe that
''from each according to his ability, and to each according to his
needs,'' is a viable structure for society. We will all be one giant
loving family, kumbaya, and nevermind that it has never worked in a full
century of trying. Conservatives know you can't trust everyone.
There's a lot of truth to the ''liberals lack God'' point, but it's not
that strong. Plenty of liberals believe in God, and plenty of
conservatives are atheists (or at least, skeptics). Religions vary so
much in what they condone (from pro-war to anti-war, from sin easily
forgiven to sin never forgiven, from pro-wealth to anti-wealth, from sex
big thing to sex no big thing), that any political view can find a
welcoming religion. Laws have to be constructed on a most common
denominator scheme (e.g. murder is wrong), not relativistically (e.g.
it's OK to kill your wife if your religion condones it). Right is right,
and wrong is wrong, but not all wrong has to be universally illegal.

Liberals aren't only insane but are walking contradictions. If the
believe man is inherently good then why do they spend so much time in
creating new regulations and trying to take away guns?

Reply 9 - Posted by: ForNow, 12/10/2005 3:33:56 PM
The leftists' will to relativism twisted relativity theory to their
ends. The speed of light through a vacuum does not vary relatively to
various observers. In ordinary language, it is an absolute. Motion may
be relative, but (a) you can't put the center of gravity arbitrarily
wherever you want it, and (b) it's not a purely arbitrary question which
picture is simpler and more natural than another. Those two facts are
why we say the Sun is at the solar system's center.
It's also true that leftists blame reality for not being as it "should"
be, and often think that a satisfying interpretation trumps any possible
disconfirmation. Would Newton have blamed gravity if apples fell upward?

The response to #8 is one I received to that very question on campus
earlier this year: "Well, you see, we *ARE* all basically good. Except
for the fact that the horribly repressive religions, by attempting to
squash our natural desires, have created a "pressure cooker" inside of
us, and we blow off steam; some more so than others. When we finally all
get enlightened, and can exercise our rights the way we want, our
desires will not be suppressed by the horrible religious structures and
there will be peace."
It is a variant of the stupid line that, "the only reason socialism has
not succeeded, is that has not been properly implemented."
Yes, friends and neighbors, the barking moonbats would have us believe
that government officials, who are quite adept at bringing us $600
hammers and $800 toilet seats and NASA and "affirmative action," and,
regardless of party, spends our money like drunken sailors, can be
trusted to run a socialistic system.
Pah! Ptooie! Evil people!

Reply 11 - Posted by: ForNow, 12/10/2005 3:42:12 PM
Also, in leftist mouths, the claim that "people are basically good"
takes on the same razor's edge of ambiguity as in the phrase "To Serve
Man" in the famous Twilight Zone episode. The State tends to
anthropophagy.

neccessary for utopia building.

Quit with the $600 hammer . It was an accounting trick. Oh, and the
aircraft toilet seat was $640

Excellent word picture, ''To Serve Man,'' and another is ''Battlestar
Galactica.'' It also reminds me of Wiley E. Coyote and the Roadrunner,
the Left being Wiley. No matter what scheme they dream up, they'll never
catch the Roadrunner!
The Left denies reality and thinks they can negotiate with anyone. They
tolerate anything and everone, except intolerance and those who believe
in absolutes. They are blind to the reality that is the Global War On
Terror (tm) and think that we are the cause of international
Islamo-fascist terrorism and that if we only get out of Iraq that the
terrorism would go away. Leftists never seem to learn from history - it
doesn't fit their material dilectic.
Civilization is at stake and all the Left can say ''It's the wrong war,
at the wrong time, at the wrong place.''
All I can say is...silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!

the collective mental breakdown of the Liberal Movement
For once I wish the Left complete success in reaching end of the path
they've set themselves upon.

Unfortunately, the article opens with a gross error. George III suffered
from a physical ailment (can't recall the technical name) which caused
his mental lapses. This has been documented widely. It is not in
dispute.
Anyhow, the LDotters who enjoyed this piece should ake a peek at,
"Heaven on Earth: The Rise and Fall of Socialism" by Joshua Muravchik. A
very fine read which covers much of what is in this article in greater
detail. Then, of course, there is "Intellectuals" by the always fabulous
Paul Johnson.

A really great article!
If you believe hard enough, it will come true. The Left, much like
Dorothy in Oz, need merely click their collective heels three times and
chant "there's no place like home" and they will be magically
transported to Washington.
This is magical thinking on the level of a three-year-old's development,
which is why, I guess, liberals seem so childish, refusing to mature
beyond adolescence, if that.
Until they are properly civilized, little kids and adolescents can be
cruel, and adults functioning on that level are vicious and violent,
which we see in the liberals so often.
